NanoSteel SHS 9800 cored wire for installation and repair purposes is available in spool and bulk packaging, and can be welded by gas metal arc welding (GMAW) and open arc welding (OAW) processes.

Typical Use:

Applied via Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and Open Arc Welding (OAW) as an alternative to chrome carbides, complex carbides and tungsten carbide alloys for wear. The material chemistry is optimized to provide improved impact resistance over previous generation SHS weld overlay cored wires. Application example: Hardfacing for ID clad wear pipe, excavator buckets, dozer blades, loader buckets, fan blades and feed screws; overlay wear plate for mining skip cars, haul truck beds and side dump doors, conveyor systems, transfer chutes, dragline and shovel buckets, hoppers and rock crushers

Apparent use of Nanotechnology: formation of near nano-scale microstructure when welded
Reason for Inclusion:

"When welded, SHS cored wires form a near nano-scale microstructure with a unique combination of high hardness and toughness properties."  (see product link)
